Sonic Boom Record · Redesign

Established in 1997, Sonic Boom Records has been a cornerstone of Seattle's independent music scene. But in a competitive landscape, their brand needed to evolve to recapture the raw energy and community spirit that fueled their early success. This project delves into the redesign of Sonic Boom's brand identity.

Role: Visual Designer, Branding
Technique: Illustrator,Indesign, Photoshop, Figma
Medium: Digital
Duration: 11 weeks

Collaborators:  Jordan Pasek

Problem to Solve:

Sonic Boom struggled to attract a wider audience. Their existing branding spoke only to a niche market, and their online presence was limited. In today's digital age, this meant missing out on a significant potential customer base.

Insight:

The team recognized Sonic Boom's roots in the Seattle grunge era. Grunge wasn't just music, it was a movement – a celebration of authenticity and raw energy.  This spirit, like a hidden gem on an album – a "deep cut" known only to true fans – became the inspiration for the rebrand.

Solution:

We designed a memorable logo captured the essence of seeking out those hidden gems, while the brand design channeled the grunge aesthetic with a modern twist. This unique style embraced textures, overlapping elements, and a touch of handmade authenticity. Deliverables included Instagram templates and a revamped website, expanding their online presence and attracting a new generation of music lovers.
